DESCRIPTION:This is a joint meeting of Canadian Society of Senior Engineers
and IEEE Life Members Affinity Groups.\n\nThis series of presentations ha
s been occurring for more than 20 years and is now being also advertised t
o the IEEE Northern Canada Section (NCS) Life Members Affinity Group (LMAG
) through vTools and other IEEE LMAG's and IEEE members depending upon the
topic. At the same time the Canadian Society of Senior Engineers (CSSE) i
s using their national organization to provide information\, the subject a
nd speaker to members across Canada.\n\nThe next meeting will be held on T
hursday\, January 15\, 2026. The meeting will open at 12:30 pm MST (2:30pm
Eastern)\, with the presentation starting at 12:45 (2:45 pm EST). The mee

e meeting originates in Alberta which is in the Mountain Time Zone\, so if
you are in another province you must account any necessary time shift.\n\
nTopic: Innovative Solutions to Support Energy Transition.\n\nBert Jones o
f ATCO EnPower will be speaking on how his part of the ATCO companies is p
rogressing innovative solutions to support energy transition. His talk wil
l include examples such as the design\, construction and operation of two
Hydrogen refuelling stations for CPKC Hydrogen Powered Locomotives\, one i
n Calgary and one in Edmonton\, and the benefits this initiative has provi
ded. He will also touch on how ATCO EnPower is uniquely positioned in the
hydrogen value chain and how their role supports its development. This inc
ludes the initial stages of a hydrogen hub in the Alberta Industrial Heart
land and ammonia generation and transportation infrastructure to transport
ammonia to Asian markets.\n\nATCO EnPower is partnered in a Carbon Captur
e Hub\, to ensure the supply of low carbon hydrogen for industrial end-use
rs\, and potentially for energy utility providers. They are also exploring
the viability of storing hydrogen in their underground salt cavern assets
in the Industrial Heartland.\n\nSpeaker: Bert Jones\n\nBio: Bert is a Pr
oject Manager at ATCO EnPower\, who has worked on various facility Capital
Growth Projects over his five years with ATCO. This includes expansion pr
ojects at NGL and natural gas storage facilities\, and more recently in th
e development of hydrogen facilities.\n\nHe has a Degree in Mechanical Eng
ineering from the University of Calgary\, and has spent his 25+ year caree
r working on facility projects at various Engineering\, Energy and Petroch
emical companies. This spans several industries\, including upstream and m
idstream oil & gas\, oil sands\, power generation\, refining and petrochem
icals.\n\nVirtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/531992
