DESCRIPTION:Ed Galkin and Peter Teahen’s Flight to End Polio returned in
2025 with a second\, record-setting mission. What took three years to prep
are for their first circumnavigation is now an ongoing campaign to keep at
tention on polio eradication. Ed and Peter set three international aviatio
n records on their recent flight.\n\nIn our April 2023 Tech Talk\, John Oc
kenfels\, who served as Technical Advisor on this flight\, and Peter spoke
about planning the original flight. In this month’s Tech Talk they will
present highlights from the 2025 “Circle the Atlantic” flight — a 3
7-day journey that departed August 30\, 2025 and concluded in early Octobe
 r 2025 — covering roughly 8\,800 nautical miles (≈10\,127 statute mile
 s) and making 15 landings in 11 countries including Canada\, Iceland\, Nor
 way\, Denmark\, France\, Poland\, United Kingdom\, Spain\, Portugal\, and
Newfoundland before returning to the U.S.\n\nAlong the route the team held
  multiple fund-raising and awareness events\; the 2025 flight’s stated f
undraising goal was $1 million and donations are 100% directed to The Rota
ry Foundation’s PolioPlus program and matched 2:1 by the Gates Foundatio
 n. Early reports indicate they will be successful at exceeding their goal.
