DESCRIPTION:The workshop will aim to introduce to the master students about
using hardware in developing medical instrumentation by considering the p
hases of theoretical concept\, prototyping\, and introduction in clinical
practice.\n\nThe focus of the workshop will be on electroencephalography.
During the frontal lectures\, the workshop will introduce the physiology r
elated to the neural system and it will answer the following questions: (1
) How to acquire an EEG? (2) How to identify interferences? (3) How to den
 oise an EEG?\n\nThe workshop will include a practical Hands-on Session\, w
hich will allow the student to work with hardware in teams. This practical
session will be split into two sessions: (1) a session on the basics of h
ardware (how to use breadboards\, carbon resistors\, LEDs\, etc.) and (2)
a session on the acquisition and denoising of EEG signals.\n\nThe students
will use the Arduino IDE instrumentation (to investigate the design of ha
rdware) and MATLAB (to investigate the EEG processing techniques). The thr
ee teams that will obtain the best results will be awarded at the end of t
he workshop.\n\nThe workshop will conclude with a final lecture about the
pipeline of industrial engineering of medical devices and it will give ins
ight into the transformation of a prototype into medical devices and\, thu
s\, its introduction into the real clinical world.\n\nRoom: Aula Polifunzi
