DESCRIPTION:Event Report: Street Play on Electrical Safety Awareness\n\nCre
ative Outreach: "Bijli" – An Electrical Safety Awareness Campaign\nOr
ganized By: IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter at the Department of Electrica
l Engineering JSPM’s Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering\n\nDate: 13th
January 2026\nVenue: Department of Electrical Engineering C-Building\n
Target Audience: Students\, Faculty\, and Non-Teaching Staff\n\nObjecti
ve:\n\nElectrical safety is an essential aspect of daily life\, especially
in academic institutions where electrical equipment is widely used. Howev
er\, unsafe practices such as improper wiring\, overloading sockets\, and
careless handling of electrical appliances are often ignored. To address t
his issue\, the IEEE Student Branch of JSPM’s RSCOE organized a creative
outreach program combining a street play and a safety awareness rally\, a
iming to promote practical electrical safety awareness among the campus co
mmunity.\n\nThe main objectives of the event were:\n\n-\nTo spread awarene
ss about basic electrical safety rules in an engaging and understandable m
anner.\n\n-\nTo connect theoretical electrical concepts with real-life app
lications.\n\n-\nTo educate students and staff about common electrical haz
ards in hostels\, classrooms\, and homes.\n\n-\nTo encourage safe practice
s and reduce negligence related to electrical usage.\n\nStreet Play on Ele
ctrical Safety Awareness (Nukkad Natak)\n\nThe event featured a street pla
y titled “Bijli”\, designed to communicate electrical safety concepts
through entertainment. Electricity was personified as a dramatic character
\, making technical ideas such as voltage\, resistance\, and electrical sh
ock easier to understand for a non-technical audience.\n\nThe storyline re
volved around the interaction between “Bijli” and a careless student c
haracter\, highlighting how negligence can lead to dangerous situations. T
hrough humor\, local language\, music\, and choreography\, the play demons
trated key safety aspects such as the importance of earthing\, dangers of
touching live wires\, risks of water conductivity\, and the consequences o
f bypassing protective devices.\n\nThe engaging performance attracted a la
rge audience and successfully maintained attention while delivering import
ant safety messages.\n\nSafety Awareness Rally\nTo further strengthen the
message delivered through the street play\, a Safety Awareness Rally was o
rganized across the campus. IEEE student volunteers participated enthusias
tically\, carrying placards and chanting slogans related to electrical saf
ety.\n\nThe rally focused on the following key areas:\n\nOne Socket\, One
Load Rule to prevent overloading and short circuits.\nImportance of proper
earthing and safe plug usage.\nAwareness about MCB and ELCB as essential
protective devices.\nAvoiding the use of damaged or exposed electrical cab
les.\nBasic emergency response actions during electrical shock incidents.\
nThe rally helped extend the reach of the awareness campaign and ensured t
hat safety messages were visible to a broader audience.\n\nAgenda: \nImpac
t and Outcome\nThe “Bijli” Electrical Safety Awareness Campaign receiv
ed a positive response from students and staff. The creative approach effe
ctively transformed technical safety rules into memorable lessons. Partici
pants gained better understanding of everyday electrical hazards and the i
mportance of following safety protocols. The event successfully contribute
d to fostering a culture of safety consciousness within the campus.\n\nCon
clusion\nBy combining a street play with a safety awareness rally\, the IE
EE PES Student Branch Chapter of JSPM’s RSCOE demonstrated an innovative
method of technical outreach. The event aligned with IEEE’s objective o
f using technology and knowledge for societal benefit and reinforced the m
essage that electrical safety is everyone’s responsibility.\n\nRoom: Fro
