DESCRIPTION:At the annual TechFest Dayton\, the IEEE Dayton Section hosts b
ooth and educational breakout sessions to engage K-12 students with microe
lectronics and microfabrication. We introduce young children to basic elec
tronic principles using snap circuits\, where they can learn about LEDs\,
batteries\, switches\, and resistors. We utilize USB microscopes and allow
kids to explore the intricate details of real microchips\, supplemented b
y animations explaining the microchip fabrication process. We utilize IEEE
TryEngineering resources related to the art of microfabrication. Using si
licon wafer replicas\, we engage with kids in hands-on design activities w
ith stickers\, colors\, and etching\, providing an imaginative approach to
chip design.\n\nVolunteers are requested to fill in the Tech Fest 2026 si
gn up form available at the top of the [STEM page](https://r2.ieee.org/day
