DESCRIPTION:Two Night Seminar Covering Electrical Area Classification – K
ey Terms\, Key Standards and Key Factors in Developing Drawings\n\nThis co
urse is geared towards practicing electrical\, control and instrument engi
neers who perform engineering on facilities within the process industries.
\n\nAbstract:\nElectrical Area Classification – Key Terms\, Key Standard
s and Key Factors in Developing Drawings\n\nThis 4-hour technical seminar
presented to the Houston Local Section of IEEE\, offers an introduction to
electrical area classification – a critical aspect of ensuring safety a
nd compliance for electrical equipment installed in potentially flammable
or combustible atmospheres. In this seminar attendees can expect to learn:
\n\n- What electrical area classification is\,\n- Key terminology necessar
y to conduct area classification risk assessments and develop area classif
ication drawings\,\n- Key applicable standards\, including NFPA 70 (Nation
al Electrical Code)\, API RP 500/505\, NFPA 496/497/499\, and the IEC 6007
9 series\, with emphasis on their scope\, differences\, and practical appl
ication in industrial environments\, and\n- Key factors in reading\, inter
preting and developing electrical area classification drawings\, highlight
ing common symbols\, boundary delineations\, and the integration of proces
s safety data.\n\nDeveloped for engineers\, designers\, and technical prof
essionals working in oil & gas\, chemical\, and manufacturing sectors\, th
is session will equip attendees with the knowledge to confidently engage w
ith area classification documentation and contribute to safer\, code-compl
iant electrical designs.\n\nCo-sponsored by: Donald G. Dunn\, FIEEE\n\nSpe
aker(s): Louis Barrios\n\nAgenda: \n5:30 pm - 6:00 pm: Dinner Served to al
l registered attendees.\n\n6:00 pm - 6:15 pm: Annoucements\n\n6:15 pm - 8:
