DESCRIPTION:Co-sponsors: IEEE PELS\n\nCo-Host: Electrical Engineering Depar
tment\, Vishwkarma Government Engineering College\, Chandkheda\, Ahmedabad
\, India\n\nVenue: Vishveshvariya Auditorium\, A-Block\, VGEC Chandkheda\n
\nYoutube Link: https://www.youtube.com/live/t-KDsbq4OFA\n\nCoordinated By
: Prof. (Dr.) S. N. Pandya\, Head\, Electrical Engineering Department\, Pr
of. (Dr.) H. D. Mehta\, Prof. Vaibhavi Parmar\, Prof. (Dr.) Divyesh Vaghel
a\, Prof. Grishma Shah\n\nHost Address: Dr. V. S. Purani\, Principal\, VGE
C\n\nAccompanied by : Dr. Priyesh Chauhan\, Dr. Krupa Shah\, Prof. (Dr.) B
havik Suthar\, Mr. Chirag Chauhan\, Prof. Ashish Joshi\, Prof. Muktesh Sid
dh\, Prof. Sunil Changlani\, Prof. D. R. Dobariya\, Prof. Rozina Surani\n\
nObjective: To enhance students’ and faculty members’ understanding of
advanced electric vehicle (EV) fast charging and discharging technologies
\, with special emphasis on future-ready charging infrastructure. The Elec
trical Engineering Department of Vishwakarma Government Engineering Colleg
e\, Chandkheda\, organized this expert lecture under the IEEE VGEC Student
Branch to expose participants to cutting-edge research\, real-time applic
ations\, and emerging challenges in EV charging systems\, grid integration
\, and bidirectional power flow for Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications.\n\
nDetails:\n\nThe session commenced with registration and audience assembly
\, followed by a formal introduction of the session. Dr. V. S. Purani\, Pr
incipal\, VGEC\, addressed the gathering and welcomed the distinguished sp
eaker with a bouquet presentation.\n\nProf. Vaibhavi Parmar introduced Dr.
Sanjib Kumar Panda to audience and formally welcoming him for his address
. Dr. Sanjib Kumar Panda delivered a highly engaging and interactive lectu
re on “EV Fast Charging & Discharging.” Instead of a one-way technical
presentation\, the expert deliberately adopted a two-way\, interactive ap
proach\, continuously engaging students through thought-provoking question
s and real-time discussions. He effectively utilized the students’ funda
mental knowledge of electrical engineering\, power electronics\, and contr
ol systems to gradually build their understanding of advanced EV fast char
ging and discharging concepts.\n\nDuring the session\, Dr. Panda explained
the limitations of existing low-voltage grid-connected charging solutions
and introduced the concept of medium-voltage (MV) grid-connected solid-st
ate-transformer (SST) based fast-charging stations. By linking basic theor
etical concepts with practical system-level architectures\, he enabled stu
dents to clearly understand bidirectional power flow\, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2
G) operation\, and multi-port fast-charging infrastructure for heavy\, med
ium\, and light electric vehicles.\n\nThe lecture remained highly interact
ive throughout\, with frequent question-and-answer exchanges that encourag
ed active student participation. The expert emphasized the importance of t
wo-way learning in technical education and motivated students to think cri
tically about future EV charging challenges and research opportunities. Th
e session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment\, followed by a formal
vote of thanks by Dr. H. D. Mehta.\n\nThe distinguished lecturer’s talk
provided participants with valuable insights into advanced EV fast chargi
ng and discharging technologies\, MV grid-connected architectures\, and bi
directional energy flow concepts. Students gained exposure to real-world r
esearch problems\, system-level design considerations\, and emerging trend
s in sustainable transportation and smart grids. The interactive discussio
n enhanced conceptual clarity and motivated students to pursue research an
d innovation in power electronics and EV-related domains. Overall\, the fe
edback from participants was highly positive\, and the session was appreci
ated for its technical depth and relevance to future energy systems.\n\nCo
