DESCRIPTION:Along with the IEEE Student Branch at Amman Arab University and
other local IEEE societies\, the CS community at AAU are going to be supe
rvising and organizing the Astro Code 2026 competition.\n\nSet to be held
at AAU's dorm on June 8th 2026\, the technology-engineering hackathon will
feature a multitude of extra activities to look forward to (including dro
ne show\, space culture night\, "How to Present Your Project" session\, an
d more).\n---------------------------------------------------------------\
n\n- Main event:\n\nThe Astro Code competition is a national hackathon tha
t focuses on creating a multidisciplinary platform for over 250 students f
rom 15+ Jordanian universities to tackle real national space challenges th
rough applied solutions.\n\nThe competition aims to address Jordan’s pri
ority space challenges by advancing space science and applications\, trans
forming these challenges into practical and innovative solutions led by un
iversity students across the country.\n\nAstro Code 2026 is built on a ful
ly collaborative model among participating IEEE technical societies\, each
contributing its expertise by defining track specific challenges\, leadin
g specialized training programs\, supervising participating teams\, and su
pporting the competition’s organization and administration. This collect
ive effort creates a comprehensive framework that bridges academic knowled
ge with practical implementation\, fostering innovation\, teamwork\, and r
esearch aligned with Jordan’s future in space and\nadvanced technologies
.\n---------------------------------------------------------------\n\n- Si
de activities:\n\nAstro Code is set to feature lots of engaging activities
in addition to the main hackathon.\nThese include:\n\n- Opening Ceremony
& Panel Discussion:\nA professional panel discussion on space and space te
chnologies\, featuring representatives from: -- Dr.Ammar sakaji – Presid
ent The Jordanian Astronomical Society.\n- Dr.Hana Sabat - Director of Sci
entific Affairs &Training Of Regional Center for Space Science and Technol
ogy Education for Western Asia.\n- Prof. Ahmad Bani Younes – Head Of Pac
ecraft Platform for Astronautics and Celestial Emulation Labratory In San
Diego State University.\n\n- Student Debate Session:\nA structured student
debate between a team defending the engineering and mechanical perspectiv
e. And a team defending the technology and software perspective.\nThe deba
te will be conducted by students from different IEEE student societies.\n\
n- Astronomical Observation & Space Culture Night:\nThe evening will featu
re the following:\n- Astronomical observation using optical telescopes.\n-
Advanced telescopes utilizing AI-based object recognition to identify cel
estial objects and planets.\n- Activities aimed at promoting space culture
and awareness among participants.\n\n- Aerial Drone & UAV Show:\nA live
aerial demonstration using drones and fixed-wing UAVs. As well as showcasi
ng aerospace applications and unmanned systems technology as part of the c
ompetition activities.\n--------------------------------------------------
-------------\n\n- Astro Code and IEEE AAU:\n\nAstro Code 2025 was the fir
st pilot edition of the competition and proved to be a highly successful p
latform for multidisciplinary space and technology problem-solving. Over 2
5 teams participated in 20+ challenges across 8 specialized tracks\, worki
ng intensively over two days. The event highlighted excellence\, creativit
y\, and teamwork\, with top awards recognizing both performance and innova
tive ideas.\n\nThe success of this edition validated the concept and demon
strated the event’s potential\, laying a strong foundation for expanding
 Astro Code 2026 into a large-scale national competition.\n---------------
------------------------------------------------\n\n- CS contribution:\n\n
The competition consists of five main tracks\, each containing 2–3 chall
enges. Teams can choose one challenge to participate in.\nEach track is su
pervised by a Track Advisor\, who oversees the track’s challenges\, guid
es student teams\, and provides support during the hackathon. And the CS w
ill be advising (Track 3: Space Software & Law Applications).\n\nThe track
will focus mostly on software and technical solutions\, the community's s
pecialty. And will include the following ideas:\n\n- Software systems for
space.\n- law implementation.\n- Space operations regulation.\n- Software
Development.\n- Compliance systems.\n-------------------------------------
--------------------------\n\n- Pre-Competition Specialized Training:\n\nA
s part of Astro Code 2026\, a series of specialized pre-competition traini
ngs will be offered to prepare students for the challenges of each competi
tion track. Each training is supervised by the corresponding IEEE technica
l society\, providing expert guidance and practical skill development.\n\n
And once again\, the CS team will be supervising the "Web and Application
Development & Digital Systems" training session. Which will cover the foll
owing:\n\n- Perspective on designing & developing web applications and sys
tems related to Jordan’s technological infrastructure.\n- Practical soft
ware solutions.\n- Hands on exercises tailored to the Space Software & Law
 Applications track.\n----------------------------------------------------
-----------\n\n- Timeline & schedule:\n\n- Day 1 (June 8th 2026):\n- Openi
ng Ceremony: 9:00 AM\n- Competition starts immediately after the opening.\
n- End Of Opening Ceremony: 12:00 PM\n- Drone Show 8:00 PM\n- Space Cultur
e Night 10:00 PM\n\n- Day 2 (June 9th 2026):\n- Competition ends: 12:00 PM
\n- How to Present Your Project session: 12:00 – 1:00 PM\n- Judging star
ts: 1:00 PM\n- Lunch break: 2:30 PM\n- Judging ends: 3:00 PM\n- Closing Ce
remony & Awards: 4:00 PM\n\n----------------------------------------------
-----------------\n\n- Sponsors / Support:\n\n-\n- IEEE AAU communities re
spectively: IEEE CIS AAU\, IEEE CS AAU\, IEEE RAS AAU\, IEEE AESS AA (orga
nization/ preparation/ coordination/ supervision/ training).\n- IEEE EMBS
(organization/ preparation/ coordination/ supervision/ training).\n- IEEE
AAU Student Branch (organization/ preparation/ coordination/ funding)\n- A
mman Arab University (venue and facilities)\n- [potential F&B sponsors].\n
\n---------------------------------------------------------------\n\n- Con
clusion:\n\nThe Astro Code 2026 is looking up to be an absolute bombshell
of an event and will likely be one of IEEE Jordan Section's hugest splashe
s yet!\nThe CS community at AAU is also working very hard into insuring th
e competition goes perfectly\, and all our officers are already preparing
all the necessary requirements and making sure everything is accounted for
.\n\nOur community's big role in Astro Code this year will not go unnotice
d\, and will inshallah put the CS chapter on the map as one of the most am
bitious and involved of the Section's.\n\nBldg: Amman Arab University buil
