 ) will host a seminar dedicated to the role of photonics in shaping the fu
 ture of AI infrastructures and next-generation wireless communications.\n\
 nOrganized within the framework of the PIX Europe project and promoted by 
 the IEEE Photonics Society Italy Chapter\, the event brings together cutti
 ng-edge research and real technological challenges at the intersection of 
 optics\, computing\, and communications.\n\n11:00-11:45  High Speed Optica
 l Interconnects for AI infrastructure\n\nProf. Oskars Ozoliņš\, Riga Tec
 hnical University\n\nAbstract: The increasing computational demands of AI 
 systems require optical interconnects that provide higher bandwidth densit
 y\, lower energy per bit\, and scalable manufacturability. This talk will 
 review recent advances in high-speed optical I/O technologies\, with parti
 cular focus on next-generation modulator platforms that underpin these int
 erconnects. Silicon photonics highlight their respective advantages for AI
 -driven performance targets. Emphasis will be placed on system-level exper
 iments\, electro-optic optimization\, the role of wafer-level characteriza
 tion\, and the integration challenges that must be overcome to support the
  future scale of AI interconnect architectures.\n\n11:45-12:30  Free-Space
  Optical Beamforming for Fi-Wi-Fi Scenarios and Commodity QKD\n\nDr. Bernh
 ard Schrenk\, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology\n\nAbstract: Optical wi
 reless communication is touted as one important contributor to establish a
  seamless communication-computing continuum within 6G networks – our fut
 ure communication infrastructure that expands towards a highly heterogeneo
 us landscape that will eventually fuse communication\, sensing and quantum
  technologies. Towards that\, key enablers such as optical beamforming wil
 l be addressed\, with the aim to establish Fi-Wi-Fi bridges for extending 
 the fiber-grade connectivity in fiber-scarce environments\, as well as to 
 serve as optical hotspots for solarblind quantum key exchange for handheld
