DESCRIPTION:- Introduction\nThe rapid growth of digital technologies has cr
 eated a strong demand for skills in Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, a
nd Mathematics (STEM). However\, access to quality STEM education and hand
s-on technological exposure remains limited for students in rural and reso
urce-constrained regions. High school girls\, in particular\, face additio
nal barriers in accessing opportunities that encourage participation in em
erging technology fields.\n- Project Description\nInnovateHer is a capaci
ty-building initiative designed to train high school girls aged 11 to 17 i
n the fundamentals of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Python programming.
The programme targets selected schools in the Mannar\, Madhu\, and Mullai
tivu districts\, where students have limited access to hands-on IoT practi
cal sessions and where there is a shortage of trained teaching staff for P
ython programming.\nExposure to IoT and Python at an early stage is essent
ial to spark interest and motivation in STEM-related fields\, develop prob
lem-solving skills\, and build a strong foundation for future learning. Th
is initiative proposes to conduct two series of interactive\, hands-on wor
kshops with the support of industry partners and collaborating organizatio
ns\, including the IEEE Student Branch\, University of Jaffna\, Uki Coding
  School\, Jaffna\, and the SheRise NGO.\n- Objectives\nThe main objectives
of the InnovateHer programme are: - To introduce high school girls to the
fundamentals of IoT and Python programming. - To provide hands-on experie
nce in building basic IoT projects. - To enhance logical thinking and prob
lem-solving skills through team-based activities. - To motivate female stu
dents to pursue further studies and careers in STEM fields. - To bridge th
e resource and skill gaps in rural schools through expert-led training.\n-
Target Group\nHigh school girls aged 11–17 years\nStudents from selecte
d schools in Mannar\, Madhu\, and Mullaitivu districts\nExpected number of
participants: 50 students per workshop session\n- Workshop Schedule (Ten
tative)\n1st Week of June: Workshop session in Mannar\nLast Week of June:
Workshop sessions in Madhu and Mullaitivu\n- Workshop Outline\nEach worksh
op session will follow the structure below:\n1. Hands-on training for buil
ding a basic IoT project – 3 hours\n2. Introduction to Python programmin
 g (basic syntax and concepts) – 1 hour\n3. Team-based activity for probl
em-solving using acquired skills – 1 hour\n4. Selection of winning teams
and distribution of rewards\n- Methodology\nThe workshops will be conduc
ted using an interactive and learner-centred approach\, combining short le
 ctures\, demonstrations\, hands-on practical sessions\, and group activiti
es. Participants will work in teams to encourage collaboration\, peer lear
ning\, and confidence building. Resource persons from academia\, industry\
, and professional bodies will facilitate the sessions.\n- Expected Outco
mes\nImproved awareness and understanding of IoT and Python programming am
ong participants.\nEnhanced confidence and interest of high school girls i
n STEM subjects.\nDevelopment of basic technical and problem-solving skill
 s.\nStrengthened collaboration between universities\, industry partners\,
 NGOs\, and schools.\n\nMannar\, Sri Lanka\, Sri Lanka
