moves forward with confidence!\n\nIEEE VNRVJIET Student Branch\, IES\, ED
S\, WIE & SSIT\, in collaboration with IEEE PES/IAS Joint Chapter\, SSIT\,
SPS\, and IEEE Hyderabad Section SAC\, are organizing the Inauguration of
the IEEE SSIT Student Chapter VNRVJIET\, followed by a distinguished Lect

rging technologies such as artificial intelligence\, smart infrastructure\
, digital platforms\, and cyber-physical systems are transforming modern s
ociety at unprecedented speed. However\, innovation without governance can
create ethical dilemmas\, social inequities\, security risks\, and uninte
nded long-term consequences. Responsible technological advancement therefo
re requires structured oversight\, ethical frameworks\, and institutional
engagement.\n\nThis talk introduces students to the IEEE Society on Social
Implications of Technology (SSIT) and its global role in technology gover
nance within the IEEE ecosystem. As a cross-disciplinary platform\, SSIT a
ddresses the societal dimensions of engineering through conferences\, publ
ications\, standards collaboration\, education programs\, policy dialogues
\, and student engagement initiatives.\n\nThe session will cover:\n\n- Why
technology governance is essential in the age of intelligent systems\n- H
ow IEEE structures its societies and where SSIT operates within this frame
work\n- SSIT’s operational activities\, including education programs\, d
istinguished lecturers\, technical events\, and global collaborations\n- T
he role of engineers in shaping ethical AI\, sustainable systems\, and inc
lusive digital transformation\n- How students can actively participate in
governance discussions and professional leadership\n\nThe objective is to
help future engineers understand that technical expertise alone is not suf
ficient. Leadership in modern engineering demands awareness of ethics\, pu
blic policy\, sustainability\, and societal impact. IEEE SSIT provides stu
dents with a platform to engage in these broader responsibilities while bu
ilding professional credibility and global networks.\n\nThe talk aims to i
nspire students to view themselves not only as technologists\, but as resp
onsible stewards of society-shaping innovation.\n\nSpeaker: Kalyan K Sen\,
