DESCRIPTION:The growing demands and advancements in wireless communication
and radar systems need highly efficient signal manipulation\, adaptive fre
quency control\, and enhanced device performances. Metamaterials\, compose
d of artificially engineered subwavelength unit cells\, have emerged as a
 powerful platform by manipulating amplitude\, phase\, polarization\, and e
nergy dissipation beyond the limits of conventional materials. Absorption
and polarization control represent two significant applications of electro
magnetic metamaterials\, where the co- and cross-polarized reflection coef
ficients play a critical role in determining overall device performance. T
his invited talk presents the design and development of multi-band\, minia
turized\, and wideband metamaterial absorbers\, and then extended to multi
-functional metamaterial structures that simultaneously realize high absor
ption and polarization manipulation within a single compact architecture.
In addition\, the talk also introduces the concept of absorptive filtering
Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS)\, which integrate both tunable
phase response and a bandpass like reflection response in the operating ba
nd with a sharp rejection in the out of band. Absorptive frequency-selecti
ve reflectors provide the multiple functionalities of absorption and refle
ction without the tunable phase response. However\, absorptive filtering R
IS requires a tunable phase response which can achieved by adding phase sh
 ifting layer.\n\nSpeaker(s): Punyatoya\, \n\nKanpur\, Uttar Pradesh\, Indi
