DESCRIPTION:The Jua Powered Portable Library (JPPL) is a solar-powered educ
ation and STEM outreach program launched at AIC Mashambani (Hope Academy)\
, Isiolo County\, Kenya. The initiative addresses limited access to learni
ng resources and electricity in underserved communities by providing a por
table digital and physical library with access to over one million digital
books\, powered by renewable energy and inclusive assistive technologies
for learners with disabilities.\n\nKey activities include upgrading and mo
nitoring a school's solar system\, deploying the JPPL digital library\, co
nducting STEM mentorship and hands-on outreach through IEEE TryEngineering
and WIE\, and engaging community stakeholders to promote sustainability a
nd scale. The program reached 200+ marginalized students\, especially girl
s\, through mentorship and career guidance.\n\nJPPL targets students\, gir
ls and young women\, learners with disabilities\, teachers\, and underserv
ed school communities\, with plans to scale across Isiolo County and North
Eastern Kenya as a replicable model for inclusive\, solar-powered educati
on.\n\n[]\n\nCo-sponsored by: Instutution of Engineers of Kenya \n\nIsiolo
