DESCRIPTION:This talk includes discussion and possible display of technical
devices that can be additionally added to the basic radio-relay configura
tion ‘in the field’\, such as environmental-monitoring sensors or more
complex instruments (E.g. weather stations) that inform mobile radio amat
eurs about weather conditions at the “other end of the road” –withou
t any need for commercial media sources & infrastructure (TV broadcast\, c
ell phone towers\, etc.) This topic may be also of interest for agrarian-m
eteorology\, soil science\, food production\, etc. as well as for members
of IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society.\n\nBesides the talk\, there
will be a workshop ‘in the field’ featuring a team of students who wa
lk around the campus\, carrying a handheld ham radio station equipped with
a GNSS (GPS) receiver. The second team remains in the lab\, trying to rec
eive radio signals (and position) sent by the first team.\n\nSpeaker(s): M
