DESCRIPTION:Applications and Prizes:\n\n- Applications are open to final ye
 ar students in the areas of interest of IEEE\, which include (but are not 
 limited to): Electrical Engineering\, Computer Engineering\, Computer Scie
 nce\, Physics\, Engineering Physics\, Mathematics\, Chemistry/Chemical Eng
 ineering\, Mechanical Engineering\, Mechatronics Engineering and Civil Eng
 ineering.\n\n- Any group/individual can apply\, but at least one member of
  the group needs to be a member of the IEEE. The competition application f
 orm is below. The completed application must be received by the Queen&#39;s IE
 EE Student Branch Counsellor\, Dr. Jordan Morelli by 5:00PM\, Friday March
  20th\, 2026. For any questions\, please contact Dr. Morelli at morelli@qu
 eensu.ca\n- A maximum of six groups will be invited to give a presentation
  on Thursday March 26th starting at 7:00pm. The selection of the six parti
 cipating groups will be determined based on the information provided in th
 e application form below.\n\n- The three top groups will receive a certifi
 cate\, and all six groups will earn cash prizes:\n\n- First place: $400\,\
 n- Second place: $300\,\n- Third place: $200\,\n- Fourth through Sixth pla
 ce: $50.\n\nPresentations:\n\n- The level of the presentation is to be aim
 ed at the level of the contestants’ peers.\n- The work will be judged ba
 sed on a presentation\, with conventional visual aids given to an audience
  of the speaker’s peers. (All Members of the IEEE and their guests are w
 elcome to attend the presentations.)\n- The duration of the talk is not to
  exceed 15 minutes followed by a 5-minute question period.\n\nJudging:\n\n
 - The presentations will be judged by a panel of 3 to 5 respected members 
 of the IEEE Community\, who will present their findings immediately follow
 ing the conclusion of the final presentation.\n- The judging will be based
  primarily on presentation\, content\, and originality of the topic.\n- Th
 e speakers must present their own work. This can include the work of a tea
 m of which the speaker is a member\, or a subject the speaker has research
 ed independently.\n- The speakers must design the presentation themselves.
 \n- For fairness in comparing students who work on a tight budget\, and th
 ose with larger budgets\, it is necessary for each speaker to clearly stat
 e:\n\n- The financial support for the project\n- Technology available to t
