DESCRIPTION:Every year the Messiah University in Mechanicsburg\, Pa. sponso
rs a Capitol Area Science and Engineering Fair (CASEF) to have both Junior
and Senior High students from all the schools in the South Central Pennsy
lvania compete by designing scientific projects. The purpose is to encoura
ge interest in STEM projects and to encourage careers in technology. Susqu
ehanna Section members have served as judges for many years in support of
this effort. For the last several years\, the Section has also funded two
Special Awards in the technology categories of Computer Science and Mathem
atics. One Award is intended for the best project submission from each of
the Junior ($200) and Senior High ($300) entries in these categories. Thes
e awards have proved to be very popular and have encouraged students to co
mpete in both categories. Our objective is to encourage more students to c
onsider careers in these areas that would typically include electrical and
computer engineering. In a typical year\, the CASEF competition has gener
ated over 300 entries and is increasing every year.\n\nCo-sponsored by: Wo
