DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter (SBC1151
9A)\, HBTU Kanpur\, is organizing a "Hands-on PCB Design Workshop" for the
session 2025–26.\n\nThis workshop is designed to take participants thro
ugh the complete lifecycle of hardware development—from conceptualizing
a circuit to building a functional Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Participan
ts will gain practical exposure by designing their own PCB using EasyEDA a
nd fabricating it using the toner transfer method.\n\nNo prior experience
is required for this event.\n\nWhat Participants will learn:\n\n- PCB sche
matic design\n- PCB layout using EasyEDA\n- Gerber file generation\n- DIY
PCB fabrication using FeCl₃ etching\n- Component placement and soldering
\n\nAgenda: \n- The workshop will commence with a brief welcome and introd
uction\, outlining the objectives of the Hands-on PCB Design & Fabrication
Workshop and its significance in practical electronics\, embedded systems
\, IoT\, and hardware development.\n- An introductory session will be cond
ucted to familiarize participants with the fundamentals of Printed Circuit
Boards (PCBs)\, including their role in modern electronic systems and adv
antages over conventional prototyping methods such as breadboards.\n- Part
icipants will be introduced to the complete PCB design workflow\, covering
stages such as requirement analysis\, schematic design\, PCB layout\, Ger
ber file generation\, fabrication\, and assembly\, providing a holistic un
derstanding of the PCB development process.\n- A detailed introduction to
EasyEDA\, an online PCB design tool\, will be provided. Participants will
be guided through the platform interface\, project setup\, and essential f
eatures required for circuit design.\n- A hands-on session on schematic de
sign will be conducted\, where participants will learn to add components\,
establish electrical connections\, and develop a functional circuit desig
n. Emphasis will be placed on correct design practices and avoiding common
errors.\n- In the subsequent session\, participants will be introduced to
PCB layout design\, including footprint assignment\, component placement
strategies\, routing techniques\, and design rule considerations. The proc
ess of generating Gerber files for manufacturing will also be demonstrated
.\n- The workshop will further include a practical demonstration of PCB fa
brication using the toner transfer method. Participants will observe the p
rocess of transferring circuit patterns onto a copper-clad board\, chemica
l etching using Ferric Chloride (FeCl₃)\, and post-processing steps such
as cleaning and drilling.\n- An overview of component placement and solde
ring techniques will be provided\, enabling participants to understand the
assembly of electronic components onto the fabricated PCB and basic testi
ng procedures.\n- Throughout the workshop\, emphasis will be placed on han
ds-on learning\, practical implementation\, and understanding real-world h
ardware development practices.\n- The workshop will conclude with an inter
active discussion and query resolution session\, allowing participants to
clarify doubts related to PCB design\, fabrication\, and tools used during
the workshop.\n- Finally\, the session will end with a summary of key tak
eaways\, feedback collection\, and instructions for further learning and a
pplication of PCB design concepts.\n\nBldg: Department of Electronics Engi
