DESCRIPTION:The Huntsville\, AL Chapter of the IEEE Electromagnetic Compati
bility (EMC) Society invites you to participate in a Technical Meeting on
April 16\, 2026\, featuring a talk given by Mr. Daniel Frei of NGC. The pr
ogram will begin at 5:30 pm with Phillip Stallcup of Keysight sponsoring a
free meal. Mr. Frei’s technical presentation will begin at approximatel
y 6:20 pm after some short chapter status updates.\n\nMeal – Nothing But
  Noodles\n\nGarden Salad\, Beef Stroganoff\, Fettuccini Alfredo\, Marinara
  Pasta\, Chicken Pomodoro (Pasta-Less GF)\, New York Cheesecake\, Sweet/Un
-Sweet Tea\, and Water\n\nCo-sponsored by: Meal Sponsor: Phillip Stallcup\
 , Keysight\n\nSpeaker(s): Daniel Frei\n\nAgenda: \n[][][]“Building Secur
e and Resilient Electromagnetic Communications with MIL-STD-188-125-1”\n
\nSynopsis:\n\nThis presentation will be the second half of the TEMPEST di
scussion given last year and explores the evolution of communication secur
ity in the face of modern electromagnetic threats. While encryption remain
s a cornerstone of data protection\, it is not sufficient against TEMPEST\
 , high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) events\, or high-powered micr
owave attacks. This presentation will introduce advanced electromagnetic p
rotection strategies—such as facility shielding and filtering—that are
essential for securing critical communications infrastructure. The focus
of this discussion is the role of MIL-STD-188-125-1 in establishing requir
ements for HEMP hardening of fixed ground-based C4I facilities\, how these
standards also mitigate other high-energy and low-energy threats includin
g Compromising Emanations (CE) and TEMPEST concerns\, real-world examples
of mitigation strategies implemented in operational environments\, and tes
ting methodologies with demonstrations of relevant test equipment. This di
scussion is designed for professionals and students with limited backgroun
d in these types of electromagnetic protection who are interested in under
standing the threat environments\, mitigation techniques\, and practical i
mplementation. Attendees can expect a concise overview of electromagnetic
threat environments\, insights into the evolution and application of mitig
ation strategies\, discussion of testing plans and standards compliance\,
and a live demonstration of test equipment.\n\nRoom: IslandView\, Bldg: Ea
