DESCRIPTION:CHEERS OCEANEERS! MAY 13th 2026\n\nThis month\, our main presen
ter will be Dan Wolfson\, and his presentation is about a San Diego startu
p called Poseidon AmphibWorks that is building the world's first highway-l
egal electric hydrofoiling "Boat-Car" amphibious vehicle. Marine-oriented
businesses like kelp farms\, wave power\, ocean researchers\, etc.\, could
drive these from their land-based facilities into the water and back.\n\n
At the event\, Poseidon AmphibWorks is bringing a 1/24th scale model for u
s all to look at! That's the size of an RC car\, i.e.\, a table-top versio
n of the full vehicle.\n\n[No alternative text description for this image]
\n\nPlease see more info in Dan's bio in the section below.\n\n***\n\nThis
month\, we will also do something special - the winners of the Marine Tec
hnology Society (MTS) student science fair will start early and present th
eir projects. We did this last year\, and the students demonstrated very i
mpressive technologies! We really appreciate seeing the advancement of sci
ence for the next generation.\n\n***\n\nWelcome to the monthly event for t
he IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES)\, San Diego Chapter\, which is h
osting this meeting jointly along with TMA BlueTech (The Maritime Alliance
)\, and MTS (Marine Technology Society).\n\nPlease join us for the main pr
esentation and also plenty of time for networking and friendly conversatio
n about everything oceanic\, engineering\, science\, Blue Tech\, and more.
No need to be an IEEE or OES member\, or TMA\, or MTS. Everyone is invite
d.\n\nThis month\, we will be at Quantum Brewing again\, a cool science-th
emed brewery founded by a biochemist.\n\nNo ticket required\, but please o
rder something for yourself from the brewery.\n\nPlease grab a bite from a
nearby restaurant\, which is okay to bring into the brewery per the owner
.\n\nThe food and drinks are not being funded by the hosts. Please open yo
ur own tab.\n\nSpeaker(s): Dan Wolfson\n\nAgenda: \nAgenda:\n\n4:30pm: Arr
ival time if you want to see the student presentations. Student presentati
ons will begin as soon as everyone is ready.\n\nThe remainder of the agend
a is the standard agenda.\n\n5:30pm: Arrival and networking\, order food/d
rinks for yourself.\n\n6:15pm: OES and other hosting group announcements.\
n\n6:20pm: Main Presentation by Dan Wolfson of Poseidon AmphibWorks.\n\n6:
40pm (approximately): “open mic” for any other attendees to present an
ything they like (ocean-related\, of course).\n\nExamples: employers prese
nting opportunities for employment\, job seekers presenting a quick bio\,
internship program opportunities\, promoting other events\, seeking fundin
g\, “show and tell” of any cool technology you are working on\, etc.\n
\n*For the open mic portion of the event\, please observe a time-limit of
3 minutes maximum per person. If you want to give a longer presentation\,
please ask to be the main presenter for an upcoming monthly event.\n\n7:00
pm to close: enjoy some drinks and chatting with fellow oceanic engineerin
g enthusiasts.\n\nRSVPs are appreciated for planning purposes.\n\nBldg: Qu
