DESCRIPTION:The Mechanicville Hydroelectric Plant is one of the oldest cont
inuously operating 3‑phase AC hydroelectric stations in the world\, buil
t in 1897–1898 and still running much of its original machinery today. M
echanicville is historically important because it was among the first larg
e-scale 3‑phase AC hydroelectric plants in the world—technology that m
ade long‑distance power transmission practical. The plant became a testb
ed for Charles Steinmetz and other GE pioneers\, who used it for early AC
power experiments. In today's world\, the future includes some interesting
ideas around the future grid possibilities. This will be discussed at the
lecture. This event is limited to 30 registrants so reply early.\n\nTwo P
DH Credits will be offered (Optional).\n\nAgenda: \nThe event will begin a
t 11:00 a.m. and will last approximately two hours\, including a one-hour
hydro plant tour followed by a one-hour lecture. Lunch will be provided.\n

X-ALT-DESC:Description:

The Mechanicville Hydroelectric Plant is o
ne of the oldest continuously operating 3‑phase AC hydroelectric station
s in the world\, built in 1897&ndash\;1898 and still running much of its o
riginal machinery today. Mechanicville is historically important because i
t was among the first large-scale 3‑phase AC hydroelect
