receive the videoconference link.\n\nSummary\n\nInternet of Things (IoT) s
ystems are commonly used in almost every major industry including health\,
public infrastructure\, and agriculture\, among others. With millions of
devices that are now connected in cyberspace\, attackers have now many opp
ortunities to exploit these systems. Most IoT system vendors do not consid
er implementing security mechanisms in the devices that they produce\, whe
ther it be due to restrictions in cost or limitations in available resourc
es.\n\nSecuring IoT systems is becoming a critical task\; statistics show
that more than 50% of the IoT traffic is originated in the manufacturing a
nd retail sectors. Every year\, the malware attacks on IoT devices and ser
vers increase by 400%.\n\nThis talk presents basics of IoT systems\, the p
rotocols used for communication\, security threats and and security recomm
 endations.\n\nSpeaker(s): Catalina Aranzazu-Suescun\, \n\nAgenda: \nIEEE S
