DESCRIPTION:[Entanglement-Defined Networking]\n\nSpecial Presentation by An
gela Sara Cacciapuoti (U. of Naples Federico II\, Italy)\n\nHosted by the
Future Networks AI/ML and Quantum IT working groups\n\nDate/Time: Wednesda
y\, 10 June 2026 @ 12:00 UTC (2 PM Rome/Italy Time)\n\nTopic:\n\nEntanglem
ent-Defined Networking\n\nAbstract:\n\nEntanglement challenges some of the
most established assumptions of classical networking\, as it is a network
resource with no counterpart in the classical Internet: it is non-local\,
stateful\, and short-lived. This talk explores the idea of entanglement-d
efined networking\, in which the properties of entanglement shape how netw
ork control and protocol organization are conceived. The discussion highli
ghts why control must become entanglement-aware\, why topology-driven abst
ractions alone are no longer sufficient\, and why rigid layering gives way
to more adaptive forms of protocol organization. The talk also briefly pr
esents Q2NS\, a hybrid co-simulation framework for studying these ideas at
scale. Overall\, the talk promotes a resource-driven view of the Quantum
Internet\, in which architecture and protocol organization are designed ar
ound entanglement rather than inherited classical abstractions.\n\nSpeaker
:\n\n[Angela Sara Cacciapuoti]\nAngela Sara Cacciapuoti is Full Professor
of Quantum Communications and Networks at the University of Naples Federic
o II (Italy) and a co-founder of the Quantum Internet Research Group (quan
tuminternet.it). She is the recipient of the ERC Consolidator Grant “QNa
ttyNet" (qnattynet.quantuminternet.it)\, which aims to lay the foundations
of a truly Quantum-native Internet. Her research contributions span the t
heoretical and architectural foundations of quantum networking\, and she h
as received multiple honors recognizing pioneering work in the field. She
was a featured author on the IEEE Xplore website and has served as an IEEE
ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer\, delivering invited talks worldwide on the
Quantum Internet design. Currently\, she is an Area Editor for IEEE Trans
actions on Communications and a Senior Editor for the IEEE Journal on Sele
cted Areas in Communications (JSAC) – Quantum Series\, and she serves on
the editorial boards of npj Quantum Information\, IEEE Transactions on Qu
antum Engineering\, and IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials. She was n
