DESCRIPTION:IEEE ComSoc Italy Chapter Distinguished Lecture Tour\n\nSpeaker
: Prof. Lina Mohjazi (IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer)\n\nTitle of Talk
 : Towards Zero-Touch 6G Networks: RIS\, AI-Native Intelligence\, and Proac
tive Wireless Decision Making\n\nAbstract: The vision of 6G extends far be
yond enhanced connectivity\, aiming to enable fully autonomous\, intellige
nt\, and adaptive wireless ecosystems capable of supporting mission-critic
al services\, immersive applications\, and massive machine-type communicat
ions. Achieving this vision requires a paradigm shift from conventional re
active network operation toward zero-touch networks that can sense\, learn
\, reason\, and make decisions with minimal human intervention. This talk
explores the convergence of sensing\, communication\, and intelligence as
the foundation of future zero-touch 6G networks. It highlights how distrib
 uted intelligence\, AI-native architectures\, and real-time environmental
awareness can transform wireless systems into proactive and self-optimizin
g infrastructures. The lecture will discuss emerging techniques for proact
ive mobility and handover management\, intelligent IoT data collection\, a
nd federated learning frameworks that enable scalable and privacy-preservi
ng network intelligence across highly distributed environments. The talk w
ill further examine the role of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS)
in enabling programmable wireless environments capable of dynamically adap
ting propagation conditions to enhance coverage\, reliability\, and energy
efficiency. Practical considerations\, including scalability\, sustainabi
lity\, trustworthiness\, and implementation challenges\, will also be disc
ussed in the context of next-generation wireless systems. By bridging adva
nces in AI\, sensing\, and wireless communications\, this lecture presents
a holistic perspective on the evolution toward autonomous 6G ecosystems a
nd outlines key research directions shaping the future of intelligent conn
 ectivity.\n\nCo-sponsored by: University of Cagliari\n\nSpeaker(s): Lina M
