DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Pikes Peak Section STEAM-TEAMS Monthly Meeting for Jun
e will focus on a special two-session introduction to Snap Circuits and Ph
ET Interactive Simulations designed to help prepare volunteers\, students\
, parents\, and future mentors for the 2026 Cool Science Carnival Day and
Festival events scheduled from October 3 through October 18\, 2026.\n\nThi
s session is part of a larger effort to build a sustainable and scalable S
TEM outreach pipeline through hands-on learning\, mentorship\, and communi
ty engagement. Participants will experience how physical Snap Circuits act
ivities can be combined with PhET simulations to help students visualize i
nvisible engineering and science concepts such as current flow\, switches\
 , LEDs\, motors\, conductivity\, logic\, and photonics principles.\n\nUnli
ke previous STEAM-TEAMS meetings that focused primarily on general outreac
h coordination and introductory demonstrations\, this June session will pl
ace greater emphasis on instructional preparation\, guided demonstrations\
, and volunteer readiness for large-scale public STEM engagement during Co
ol Science events.\n\nTopics and Activities Include:\n• Hands-on Snap Ci
rcuits demonstrations\n• Guided PhET simulation activities\n• Connecti
ng physical circuits with virtual simulations\n• STEM outreach strategie
s for families and K-12 students\n• Volunteer preparation for Cool Scien
ce Carnival Day\n• Building mentorship and leadership through STEM activ
ities\n• AI-assisted multimedia concepts for future outreach support\n\n
This June session is intended to serve as the first of multiple follow-up
training and preparation sessions leading into the October Cool Science ev
ents. Additional sessions will continue to expand demonstrations\, volunte
er coordination\, mentorship opportunities\, and educational content devel
opment throughout the summer and early fall.\n\nThe IEEE Pikes Peak Sectio
n continues to explore ways to make engineering education more visible\, i
nteractive\, and family friendly while strengthening leadership developmen
t through mentorship and community service.\n\n[]\n\nReference:\nSnap Circ
