DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, we have become familiar with using commercial
  software to design our antennas and microwave devices. This is very commo
 n because high-performance desktop computers are easy to find at affordabl
 e prices in our daily lives. The use of general-purpose commercial softwar
 e is widespread because it enables the simulation of arbitrary configurati
 ons. However\, many of us have experienced\, given the ease of using comme
 rcial software\, the difficulty of simulating electrically large electroma
 gnetic devices\, which can take days or\, in some cases\, cannot be comple
 ted at all. While it is true that we now have very powerful simulation too
 ls\, by making a few simple assumptions\, we can significantly reduce comp
 utational time without sacrificing accuracy [1]. In this talk\, I will int
 roduce a simple ray-tracing technique that can be used\, in combination wi
 th physical optics\, to calculate the radiation pattern\, directivity\, ga
 in\, mutual coupling\, and even the early-time response of antennas in com
 plex configurations [2-4]. The results are not only faster than those prod
 uced by conventional commercial software\, but also more accurate\, as the
 y avoid many of the numerical errors that typically arise when computing e
