DESCRIPTION:Seminar by Professor Jianhua He (University of Essex\, Colchest
er\, UK)\n\nTitle: Empowering Cooperative Autonomous Driving with Mobile E
 dge Intelligence\n\nDate: 22 July 2026 (Wed) 10am\n\nVenue: EEE Executive
Seminar Rm (S2.2-B2-53) NTU\n\nAbstract:\n\nAutonomous driving has achieve
d remarkable progress in recent years\, yet significant challenges remain
in areas such as perception\, handling long-tail corner cases\, and dynami
c interaction with other road users. Mobile Edge Intelligence (MEI)\, whic
h brings AI processing closer to vehicles via edge computing infrastructur
e\, emerges as a critical enabler for overcoming these constraints. This p
resentation will provide an overview of cooperative autonomous driving tec
hnology and how MEI can address the above limitations. It will highlight r
ecent research developments\, practical use cases and key challenges of ME
I for CAV. Recent works on semantic vehicular computing and large language
model based driving assistance will be presented\, which address the comm
unication and generalization issues for safe and cooperative driving in co
mplex and mixed-traffic environments.\n\nBio:\n\nJianhua He is a Professor
at School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering\, University of
Essex\, UK. He received a BEng and MEng from HUST\, and a PhD from Nanyang
Technological University. His main research interests include 5G and 6G n
 etworks\, connected vehicles\, autonomous driving\, Internet of things\, s
mart transport\, AI for computer vision and mobile computing. Prof He is t
he coordinator of EU Horizon projects COSAFE\, VESAFE and SECOM on connect
ed autonomous vehicles. Prof He has published more than 200 technical pape
rs in major international journals and conferences. He was an Editor of IE
EE Wireless Communications Letters and Computer Journal\, the TPC Chair of
  MobiArch’20 and ICAV’21\, a Steering Committee Chair of MobiArch’21
and MobiArch’22. He is an IEEE Senior Member.\n\nEEE Executive Seminar
