DESCRIPTION:GeoAI &amp; Industry Innovation Clinic: Bridging Remote Sensing Res
 earch and Operational Impact in East Africa is a capacity-building and ind
 ustry engagement initiative designed to connect students\, young professio
 nals\, researchers\, and early-career engineers with leaders from the geos
 patial industry. The event seeks to bridge the gap between academic resear
 ch and real-world applications of remote sensing\, artificial intelligence
  (AI)\, and geospatial technologies across East Africa.\n\nThe program wil
 l feature keynote presentations by IEEE GRSS Distinguished Lecturers and i
 ndustry experts\, panel discussions on emerging trends in GeoAI and Earth 
 observation\, and technical sessions showcasing innovative applications in
  agriculture\, environmental monitoring\, disaster risk management\, smart
  cities\, water resources\, and climate resilience.\n\nA central component
  of the event will be the Industry Innovation Clinic\, where participants 
 will work in multidisciplinary teams to address practical challenges prese
 nted by industry partners and government agencies. Through guided mentorsh
 ip\, participants will develop solution concepts\, prototype workflows\, a
 nd implementation roadmaps using remote sensing data\, GIS\, machine learn
 ing\, and AI tools. These collaborative sessions will expose participants 
 to real industry needs while strengthening their technical and problem-sol
 ving skills.\n\nThe event will also include structured networking sessions
 \, mentorship circles\, career development discussions\, and an industry e
 xhibition to facilitate meaningful interactions between participants\, emp
 loyers\, startups\, research institutions\, and technology companies. Thes
 e engagements are expected to foster internships\, research collaborations
 \, mentorship relationships\, and future joint innovation projects.\n\nOri
 ginally planned as a three-month initiative\, the event has been reschedul
 ed to a one-day program on 27 August 2026. It will be conducted as part of
  the IEEE Sensors Council Seasonal School in Uganda and organized under th
 e IEEE GRSS Young Professionals (YP) Initiative in partnership with the IE
 EE Humanitarian Technologies Board (HTB). This collaborative approach will
  bring together participants from multiple IEEE Societies and organization
 al units\, strengthening interdisciplinary engagement and maximizing the e
 vent&#39;s regional impact.\n\nThe event is expected to engage 60–80 partici
 pants\, including students\, young professionals\, researchers\, industry 
 practitioners\, and government representatives. Expected outcomes include:
 \n\n- Increased awareness of IEEE GRSS and its opportunities among student
 s\, young professionals\, and industry stakeholders.\n- Stronger collabora
 tion between academia\, industry\, government\, and the IEEE GRSS communit
 y.\n- Development of pilot GeoAI and remote sensing project concepts addre
 ssing regional challenges.\n- Creation of mentorship networks and internsh
 ip opportunities for participants.\n- Enhanced technical capacity in apply
 ing remote sensing\, artificial intelligence\, and geospatial technologies
  to solve real-world problems.\n\nThis initiative directly supports the ob
 jectives of the IEEE GRSS Chapters\, Industry\, and Operational Support (C
 IO) Program by promoting industry engagement\, encouraging technology tran
 sfer\, strengthening academia–industry partnerships\, and increasing the
  visibility and impact of IEEE GRSS across the East African region through
