DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with IEEE Day 2026\, the IEEE Curtin Sarawak Stu
dent Branch presents a Young Professionals (YP) Gathering\, bringing toget
her students\, faculty\, professionals\, and IEEE members to explore what
comes after student membership. IEEE Day itself commemorates the first tim
e in history when engineers worldwide and IEEE members gathered to share t
heir technical ideas\, in 1884\, and this year marks its 16th anniversary
on 6th October\, under the global theme "Leveraging Technology for a Bette
r Tomorrow." While IEEE Day celebrates innovation\, collaboration\, and th
e responsible use of technology to address global challenges\, this gather
ing turns that spirit inward and toward the students themselves as well as
the path ahead of them. As many prepare to graduate\, the event offers a
timely opportunity to understand how IEEE membership evolves beyond the cl
assroom through the IEEE Young Professionals program. The gathering featur
es two sharing sessions. The first is an impactful talk by Dr. Saaveethya
Sivakumar\, Chair of IEEE Young Professionals Committee\, offering firstha
nd insight into how YP membership supports career development\, leadership
opportunities\, and global networking after graduation. The second is an
industrial sharing session by IEEE Curtin alumni\, giving students a groun
ded\, practical view of life after graduation from job-hunting and workpla
ce expectations to how engineering knowledge translates into real industry
roles. Through these sessions\, the IEEE Curtin Sarawak Student Branch ho
pes to cultivate a culture of leadership\, knowledge-sharing\, and communi
ty engagement by connecting academic learning with real-world practice and
motivating graduating students to stay engaged with IEEE as Young Profess
ionals while stepping confidently into their careers.\n\nBldg: Auditorium\
