f satellite systems that the orbits are secured through an international f
ramework. The seminar will introduce the International Telecommunication U
nion procedures that nations should follow to ensure interference free sat
ellite operation. At a high level the technical elements of the process wi
ll be discussed. We will also briefly look at challenges faced by the regu
latory regime. Fundamental knowledge of satellite communication is expecte
d.\n\nBio: []\n\nDr Tharaka Dissanayake is a Chartered Professional Engine
er with over 17 years of experience in government and academia\, specialis
ing in RF systems\, satellite communications\, and spectrum engineering. H
e has supported Australia’s space and communications capability through
technical leadership\, major program support\, and the evaluation of advan
ced spectrum management tools. Tharaka has contributed to ITU satellite re
gulatory work since 2015\, presenting studies that support long term spect
rum sustainability. He holds a PhD in Electronics\, has published in IEEE
Transactions and book chapters\, and previously developed innovative RF ha
