DESCRIPTION:IEEE Sensors Council\, IEEE Systems Council\, IEEE SIGHT of SMV
ITM in association with IEEE SIGHT Mangalore Subsection organized an activ
ity titled “Designing IoT Solutions with Arduino” at B M School\, Park
ala on 07 July 2026 by the students of SMVITM\, Bantakal\, Udupi. The sess
ion aimed to introduce school students to the fundamentals of the Internet
of Things and provide practical exposure to real-world applications throu
gh an engaging hands-on learning experience.\n\nThe primary objective of t
he activity was to familiarize students with Arduino-based systems and ena
ble them to understand the development of simple IoT applications. Another
important objective was to demonstrate working project models\, including
a line follower robot and basic robotic systems\, thereby helping student
s visualize the practical implementation of embedded and IoT technologies.
\n\nDuring the session\, participants were introduced to Arduino boards\,
basic programming concepts\, component interfacing\, and input-output oper
ations. Demonstrations of project models such as line follower robots and
sensor-based systems generated significant interest among the students and
effectively bridged the gap between theoretical concepts and practical ap
plications.\n\nThe session was conducted by student mentors Chaithra Pai\,
Likhitha Nayak\, Pavan Prabhu and Pratham students of the Department of E
lectronics and Communication Engineering along with faculty member Mr. San
deep Prabhu\, Assistant Professor\, Department of Electronics and Communic
ation Engineering\, SMVITM\, Bantakal\, who provided valuable guidance thr
oughout the activity and assisted participants in understanding the concep
ts effectively.\n\nOverall\, the mentoring activity proved to be highly be
neficial and impactful. It provided students with a foundational understan
ding of IoT and embedded systems while fostering curiosity\, creativity\,
and practical problem-solving skills. The enthusiastic participation of st
udents and the effectiveness of the hands-on learning approach contributed
significantly to the success of the program.\n\nBM High School\, Parkala\
