DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\n\nWe review some important robust control problems f
 or distributed parameter systems: robust stabilization\, mixed sensitivity
  minimization\, and strong stabilization (feedback stabilization by a stab
 le controller). Computational tools are presented for finding infinite-dim
 ensional optimal controllers. Alternative finite-dimensional controller de
 sign methods are illustrated via a benchmark example (retarded time-delay 
 systems with finitely many unstable poles). Also\, a new family of robust 
 controllers is presented for a large class of unstable distributed paramet
