DESCRIPTION:The Department of CS&IT\, KLH Bachupally Campus\, in associatio
n with the IEEE Hyderabad Section and KLH IEEE Student Branch\, successful
ly organized a technical session titled “Interdependence of Critical Inf
rastructures and Their Protection” on 19 August 2026 at the KLH Auditori
um.\n\nThe session was conducted from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and featured Pr
of. Luis G. Kun\, IEEE Life Fellow\, as the distinguished speaker. The eve
nt brought together students\, faculty members\, and IEEE members to gain
valuable insights into the growing importance of protecting critical infra
structure in an increasingly interconnected technological environment.\n\n
[]\n\nThe session focused on the interdependence between different critica
l infrastructure systems and the challenges associated with protecting the
m from emerging threats. Prof. Luis G. Kun explained how sectors such as e
nergy\, communication\, transportation\, healthcare\, information technolo
gy\, and other essential services are interconnected and how a disruption
in one system can potentially affect multiple other systems.\n\nHe also hi
ghlighted the importance of cybersecurity\, resilience\, risk management\,
preparedness\, and coordinated protection mechanisms in maintaining the c
ontinuity and reliability of critical infrastructure. The discussion helpe
d participants understand how technological advancements create new opport
unities while also introducing new security challenges.\n\nThe interaction
with the speaker provided students with an opportunity to learn from an i
nternationally recognized expert and gain a broader perspective on real-wo
rld infrastructure protection. The session encouraged participants to thin
k about the role of engineers and technology professionals in designing se
cure\, reliable\, and resilient systems.\n\nThe event was conducted in col
laboration with various IEEE societies\, including IEEE Power & Energy Soc
iety (PES)\, IEEE Computer Society\, IEEE Industry Applications Society (I
AS)\, IEEE Systems\, Man\, and Cybernetics Society (SMC)\, and IEEE Women
in Engineering (WIE)\, promoting interdisciplinary learning and collaborat
ion among students.\n\nThe session also encouraged active participation an
d interaction among the attendees. Students gained awareness of the import
ance of understanding infrastructure interdependencies and adopting a comp
rehensive approach toward security and resilience rather than addressing i
ndividual systems in isolation.\n\n[]\n\nThe event concluded with a positi
ve response from the participants. The session served as a valuable learni
ng experience and provided students with meaningful exposure to the challe
nges involved in protecting critical infrastructure. It also reinforced th
e importance of continuous learning\, interdisciplinary collaboration\, an
d responsible application of technology in addressing complex real-world s
ecurity challenges.\n\nThe organizing team expresses its sincere gratitude
to Prof. Luis G. Kun\, IEEE Hyderabad Section\, the collaborating IEEE so
cieties\, KLH management\, faculty members\, volunteers\, and all particip
ants for their valuable support and contribution towards the successful co
nduct of the event.\n\nSpeaker(s): Prof Luis G. Kun\, \n\nAgenda: \n- 10:0
