DESCRIPTION:As part of the #ieeeday celebration\, the IEEE Student Branch a
t IFF Campus Campos Centro organized the first official activity of Missã
o Engenheirinhos\, a humanitarian outreach initiative created to bring sci
ence\, technology\, and engineering closer to children and teenagers in so
cially vulnerable contexts.\n\nThe activity was held at Casa de Acolhiment
o Pequenos Jornaleiros\, a local shelter for teenagers in Campos dos Goyta
cazes\, Brazil. Rather than celebrating IEEE Day only within the universit
y environment\, the Student Branch sought to put the IEEE mission of “Ad
vancing Technology for the Benefit of Humanity” into practice through di
rect community engagement.\n\nIEEE volunteers introduced the participants
to the IEEE\, engineering\, technology\, and educational and professional
opportunities in STEM. Special attention was given to discussing how techn
ical and higher education can create new possibilities for their future.\n
\nThe activity also included interactive STEM experiences. Participants in
teracted with Arduino-based robotics prototypes and explored how programmi
ng can produce physical actions in real systems. In another hands-on activ
ity\, the volunteers built and launched water rockets made from PET bottle
s together with the teenagers\, introducing basic concepts of physics and
aerodynamics in an accessible and engaging way.\n\nThe Student Branch also
collected and delivered essential donations to the institution. Beyond th
e immediate activity\, Missão Engenheirinhos was conceived as a long-term
outreach initiative\, with plans to return to the institution for practic
al technology workshops and expand STEM outreach to other vulnerable commu
nities.\n\nThe IEEE Day celebration strengthened the connection between IE
EE volunteers and the local community while demonstrating how engineering
education\, volunteering\, and technology can be combined to generate mean
ingful social impact.\n\nCampos dos Goytacazes\, Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil
