DESCRIPTION:Distributed energy integration to the grid creates power qualit
 y challenges like harmonic distortion\, voltage fluctuations\, frequency i
nstability\, reactive power imbalance\, protective relay coordination issu
e\, etc. These issues mainly stem from weather-dependent generation and po
wer electronic converters. For example\, due to random variations in wind
speed\, output power\, frequency\, and terminal voltage of wind generator
fluctuate. As a result\, power quality of the wind generator deteriorates.
However\, consumers expect constant voltage and frequency at their ends.
Thus\, frequency\, grid voltage and distribution line power should be main
tained constant. Key solutions include advanced smart inverters\, energy s
torage systems\, flexible AC transmission equipment\, etc. This talk will
discuss various means of control such as energy storage devices to maintai
n power quality of distribution grids.\n\nSpeaker(s): \, Mohd Hasan Ali\n\
