DESCRIPTION:Abstract: The State of the Utility Industry & its Effect on Tel
ecom\n\nThis presentation examines the seismic shift in the utility indust
ry\, moving from a historical era of relatively flat\, predictable energy
demand supplied from a small number of energy sources to the current state
of demand growth driven by large-scale electrification including Data Cen
ters\, EV’s\, Distributed Energy Resources\, etc. This electrification i
s coincident with a shift from a few large energy production facilities to
thousands of smaller production facilities and bi-directional power flows
of massive quantity. This unprecedented densification of both supply and
demand sides is forcing a profound change in the architecture and operatio
n of the electric grid and the systems that support that operation.\nThis
presentation will critically analyze the relationship between utility Oper
ational Technology (OT) and modern telecommunications infrastructure detai
ling the immense new demands densification places on the telecom network.
We will discuss the drivers\, challenges\, and opportunities presented by
this convergence and the strategic shifts required to ensure grid reliabil
ity.\n\nNOTE: This is a Webex Hybrid Meeting\, the speaker will be remote\
, but Delaware Bay Officers will be present on-site. IEEE will be providin
g lunch from 12-1pm Eastern for those that attend in-person in Delaware fo
r networking with other IEEE Members and Guests.\n\nSpeaker(s): Dave Hatte
