Karl Guthe Jansky an engineer and researc her of Bell Telephone Laboratories\, born in Norman Oklahoma\, experimente d between 1928 and 1932\, and he discovered electromagnetic waves of inter stellar origin\, marking the birth of radio astronomy. Using a rotating an tenna and sensitive recording equipment of his own design\, Jansky identif ied signals fixed in space\, originating from the Milky Way. This groundbr eaking discovery revolutionized astronomy\, enabling the study of celestia l phenomena through radio waves. This is one of the most important discove ries of the twentieth century. While investigating atmospheric disturbance s affecting shortwave radio communications\, Jansky detected weak\, contin uous signals that exhibited a fixed spatial direction.
