Peachey\, P.Eng.\, CD\, FCIC\, FEIC\, FCSSE\n\nThe vagaries of U.S. Policy in recent years as well as the rapid development of shale oil and gas resources in the U.S. in the last two decades has resulted in maj or national discussions about the security of pipeline systems and the nee d for alternate routes to new and even existing oil markets. In the past o il and gas development and construction of associated North American pipel ines were collaboratively developed without major consideration to policy differences between the U.S. and Canada. Systems were built logically and in a way that minimized costs\, met market demands\, protected the environ ment\, and recognized that Western Canada would be a long-term supplier to the U.S. the largest consumer of both oil and natural gas in the world. P aradigm shifts in technology\, conflicting goals for future energy supplie s\, and policies regarding energy security have radically changed views on pipelines\, and more changes may shape the future of oil and gas developm ent in Alberta and Canada in the next 1-2 decades.\n\nThis presentation wi ll take a high-level look at major changes in energy outlook that have tak en place in Canada and Globally in the last 10-20 years\, and even in the last year\, and how these changes may impact and future pipeline and other oil and gas projects in Canada.\n\nBio: Bruce Peachey\, BScChE (U of S ‘76)\, P.Eng. has over 50 years of experience in the Canadian oil and ga s industry. He spent 16 years with Imperial Oil\, in conventional oil and gas and oil sands operations\, was a founding director of the Petroleum Te chnology Alliance of Canada (PTAC) in 1996 and is currently the Secretary- Treasurer of the CSSE.
