 lk is designed for Young Professionals\, early-career engineers\, and grad
 uate students who are exploring career paths beyond academia and are inter
 ested in understanding how to translate technical expertise into viable st
 artups.\n\nThe talk will explore the entrepreneurial potential of microwav
 e and electromagnetics\, focusing on transforming lab research into scalab
 le products. It will discuss the journey from identifying industry pain po
 ints to developing proof-of-concept prototypes\, navigating funding opport
 unities\, building a business model\, and commercializing ideas for indust
 rial or consumer markets. Real-world examples and success stories will pro

 Bio: Vishal Balasubramanian (PhD) earned his B.Eng. in Electronics and Com
 munication Engineering from Anna University in 2020 and completed his Ph.D
 . in Electrical Engineering at the University of British Columbia (Kelowna
 \, Canada) in 2025. His research focuses on metamaterials microwave-based 
 sensing and their integration with modern technologies like AI\, and AR. H
 e currently works as a SoC Design Verification Engineer at Intel Canada. P
 reviously\, he served as a Sessional Lecturer at UBC\, teaching computer e
 ngineering courses\, and contributed as an Approval Committee Member for t
 he UBC Student Initiative Fund. Vishal’s industry experience includes le
 ading digital healthcare and mixed reality projects at Capgemini and consu
 lting at Cossian Design Studio. His awards include the IEEE MTT-S Graduate
  Fellowship\, UBC Dean’s Thesis Fellowship\, and recognitions from TI\,
