DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Hyderabad Section is pleased to present the 2026 itera
tion of the Faraday Memorial Lecture\, an annual lecture series instituted
in 1991 to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Michael Faraday\, w
hose pioneering work on electromagnetic induction laid the foundations of
modern electrical engineering.\n\nFaraday’s discoveries transformed our
understanding of electricity and magnetism and ultimately enabled technolo
gies that power modern civilization. More than 150 years later\, the princ
iples he established continue to underpin the electrical infrastructure th
at connects our homes\, industries and societies.\n\nHeld annually on 22 S
eptember\, the birth anniversary of Michael Faraday\, the Faraday Memorial
Lecture brings together eminent engineers and scientists to reflect on th
e evolution of electrical technology and its future. Over the years\, the
lecture has featured distinguished personalities from India and abroad\, i
 ncluding Prof. Amulya K. N. Reddy\, Prof. C. C. Chan\, Prof. M. Poloujadof
 f\, Prof. Bimal K. Bose\, Prof. Arun G. Phadke\, Dr. N. Hingorani\, Padmas
ri B. L. Deekshatulu and several other eminent experts.\n\nThe 2026 lectur
e\, titled “From Induction to Intelligent Grids: Bridging Legacy and Inn
ovation\,” will explore how the fundamental principles established by Fa
raday continue to shape the rapidly evolving power sector.\n\nThe lecture
will trace the journey from Faraday’s early experiments in electromagnet
ic induction to today’s complex\, interconnected power systems. It will
examine the challenges emerging from large-scale renewable energy integrat
 ion\, inverter-based resources\, grid digitization and the modernization o
f ageing electrical infrastructure.\n\nLooking ahead\, the session will ex
plore the convergence of physics-based modelling\, artificial intelligence
\, long-duration energy storage and resilient smart transmission systems\,
and how these technologies are transforming the conventional power grid i
nto a dynamic and intelligent ecosystem.\n\nThe lecture will also highligh
t the increasingly important connection between academic research and indu
strial application\, emphasizing how engineers can combine fundamental sci
entific understanding with emerging technologies to address the energy tri
lemma and work towards a sustainable\, resilient and carbon-neutral energy
  future.\n\nSpeaker(s): Shri Venkata Sivaram Vaddamanu\n\nThe Plaza Hotel\
