 ally\, Hyderabad\n\nAbout the JML-2026\n\nJML Lecture of IEEE CIS Chapter 
 of Hyderabad Section honours John McCarthy’s pioneering work in Artifici
 al Intelligence. It brings together researchers\, practitioners and studen
 ts to examine ideas\, challenges and emerging frontiers in intelligent sys
 tems within the field of interest of the IEEE Computational Intelligence S
 ociety. The lecture is delivered by an eminent exponent of the domain.\n\n
 About the Lecture\n\nThe talk recalls the vision of John McCarthy and othe
 rs when they coined the term Artificial Intelligence in 1956 and contrasts
  it with how AI is understood today. The lecture introduces the concepts o
 f I-Chip\, referring to the biological neural network\, and AI-Chip\, refe
 rring to current computing models.\n\nThe session will explore the differe
 nces between pattern processing in biological neural networks and data pro
 cessing in current AI models\, with discussions on memory\, learning and r
 ecall. It will also provide an overview of the evolution of AI over the pa
 st seven decades\, leading to the current thrust on deep learning models a
 nd the architectural mismatch between natural and artificial intelligence.
 \n\nAbout the Speaker\n\nProf. Bayya Yegnanarayana is Emeritus Professor a
 nd INSA Honorary Scientist at IIIT Hyderabad. He has previously served at 
 IIT Madras\, IISc Bangalore\, BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus and IIIT Hydera
 bad. His research interests include signal processing\, speech\, image pro
 cessing and neural networks. He has published over 420 papers and has supe
