DESCRIPTION:Current surveillance and tracking radars employ monopulse proce
ssing for target detection and angle estimation. With an additional delta-
delta beam\, advanced capabilities such as mainlobe cancellation (MLC)\, t
wo-target resolution\, and a secondary set of monopulse measurement can be
added to the system. In this lecture\, the following features are reviewe
d and discussed:\n\n1) Radar system evolution from phased array to hybrid
beamforming to digital beamforming.\n\n2) Separable beamforming with produ
ct beam and orthogonal nulling-beamforming and beamforming with distribute
 d apertures.\n\n3) Monopulse maximum-likelihood estimation (MLE) complemen
tary to monopulse scheme.\n\n4) Total Least Squares (TLS) v.s. Least Squar
es (LS) for multi-pulse processing.\n\n5) Monopulse beams v.s. cluster bea
ms.\n\n6) Monopulse multiple signal classification (MUSIC) and beam-based
 MUSIC.\n\nSpeaker(s): \, Kai-Bor Yu\n\nRoom: Wuke Theater of E-Valley\, Bl
