DESCRIPTION:[]\n\nThe Introduction to KiCad session was organized by IEEE S
PS SBC MBITS in collaboration with the IEEE Sensors Council MBITS as part
of the IEEE Day 2026 celebrations. The primary objective of the session wa
s to introduce students to KiCad and its applications in printed circuit b
oard (PCB) design and electronic design automation\, while encouraging the
m to explore open-source design tools and strengthen their practical knowl
edge of electronics engineering. Registrations for the session were open f
rom 02 October 2026 to 10 October 2026\, and the event was conducted on 10
October 2026 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM through Google Meet. The session was
handled by Mr. Anandhu K R\, a third-year ECE student at CUSAT and an int
ern at Kerala Startup Mission\, who shared valuable insights into the fund
amentals of KiCad and its role in electronic circuit and PCB design. The s
peaker explained the basic features of the software and introduced partici
pants to the process of designing circuit schematics and developing PCB la
youts. The session also highlighted the importance of electronic design au
tomation in transforming circuit ideas into practical hardware designs and
its applications in electronics engineering and embedded systems. The eve
nt was coordinated by Denna Benny and Anna Eldho\, ensuring the smooth con
duct of the session and active participant engagement. A total of 47 parti
 cipants attended the session\, including 14 IEEE members and 33 non-IEEE m
embers. Overall\, the event was successfully conducted as an SB-level tech
nical initiative\, providing students with valuable exposure to KiCad and
encouraging them to explore practical PCB design and electronic design aut
 omation.\n\nSpeaker(s): Mr Anandhu K R\, \n\nVirtual: https://events.vtool
