DESCRIPTION:UNB's Electronics in Remote and Adverse Surroundings research g
roup is hosting Dr. Ulf Kulau from TUHH\, Germany. UNB Physics and IEEE-NB
invite you to attend Dr. Kulau's seminar "Undervolting Investigation on L
ow-Power FPGAs in Space." Here are the details:\n\n- Location: Carleton Ha
ll\, room 139 [» find entrance on map (via OpenStreetMap)](https://www.op
enstreetmap.org/directions?from=&to=45.947041%2C-66.641521#map=18/45.94723
1/-66.641594)\n- Time: 15 Oct\, 2026\, 13:15 – 14:15\n- Abstract: Se
miconductor circuits have become essential in many industries including sp
ace. However\, their faulty operation may occur as a result of their expos
ure to environmental impacts. In this seminar talk\, we will review some o
f their physical principles and observe how these can intervene with relia
ble operation in orbit. Equipped with this understanding\, we will take a
look at the opportunities of undervolting and introduce a feasibility stud
y in the context of the payload [RISA (Reliability Investigation of Low Po
wer FPGAs for Space Applications)](https://www3.tuhh.de/e-exk3/Research/RI
SA/) for the PLUTO technology demonstrator satellite.\nRISA tests the suit
ability of low-power FPGAs for use in space missions and evaluates mechani
sms for detecting errors. RISA payload will provide important findings for
the reliable use of Low-Power FPGAs in space environments.\nPresentation
followed by Q&A\n\nRoom: 139\, Bldg: Carleton Hall\, 19 Macaulay Lane\, Th
