DESCRIPTION:IEEE Humanitarian Technologies Programs\n\nBurundi is one of th
e poorest countries in the world with only about 13% of its population hav
ing access to electricity. This lack of access to electricity limits the e
conomic development of the country. Over the last four years\, we have bee
n able to get funding through the IEEE Humanitarian Technologies Board pro
grams to support development of solar electric systems to support local pr
oductive enterprises as well as renewable energy educational projects in B
urundi. Building off this IEEE-supported success\, we received a major gra
nt (almost $1 million) from the European Union to support the development
of a national renewable energy program in Burundi. In this talk\, I will p
resent the different projects for which we received IEEE funding and descr
ibe the plans for the European Union project.\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr. Pritpal (
"Pali") Singh\n\nAgenda: \nIn Person Event: 6:00 - 9:00 P.M.\n\n- Agenda:\
n- 6:00 PM Dinner & Networking\n- 7:00 PM Presentation\n\nPDH certificates
are available and an evaluation form will be emailed to you after the mee
ting. PDH certificate are sent by IEEE USA 3-4 weeks after the meeting.\n\
