DESCRIPTION:Building the Ohio Quantum Network\n\nDr. Ronald M. Reano\n\nCo-
Director\, Center for Quantum Information Science and Engineering\nProfess
or\, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering\nThe Ohio State Uni
 versity\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\nRonald M. Reano is currently a Professor i
n the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The Ohio State
University\, Columbus\, where he also serves as Co-Director of The Ohio St
ate University Center for Quantum Information Science and Engineering. He
received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Un
iversity of Michigan\, Ann Arbor\, in 2004.\n\nProf. Reano’s current res
earch focuses on quantum networking at the system and component levels. He
is the recipient of the DARPA Young Faculty Award\, the ARO Young Investi
gator Award\, the NSF CAREER Award\, and the Ohio State University College
of Engineering McCarthy Teaching Award. He is also a 2024 Intel Outstandi
ng Researcher Awardee in recognition of work on Quantum Curriculum Using t
he Intel Quantum Software Development Kit.\n\nAbstract\n\nQuantum informat
ion science and engineering involve harnessing superposition and entanglem
ent of quantum mechanical objects. Primary applications span quantum compu
 ting\, sensing\, communications\, and metrology.\n\nQuantum networking is
moving from laboratories to real-world infrastructure\, and Ohio is explor
ing information security across deployed optical fiber networks. This pres
entation will highlight current quantum networking projects underway\, mea
surements of quantum key distribution (QKD) in deployed fiber environments
\, potential roles for integrated photonics\, and future growth trajectori
es in the state.\n\nRoom: EC3930\, Bldg: FIU EC\, 10555 West Flagler Stree
