DESCRIPTION:Why do fast-moving vehicles experience signal drops? Reliable c
 onnectivity for high-mobility users\, such as high-speed trains\, drones\,
connected vehicles and satellites\, is a key challenge for next-generatio
n wireless systems. At high velocities\, Doppler shifts and multipath prop
agation make the channel change rapidly and degrade conventional transmiss
ion.\n\nThis lecture intuitively explains these effects and shows how they
cause inter-carrier interference in OFDM\, the technique behind 4G and 5G
. It then introduces the delay–Doppler view of the wireless channel and
two emerging 6G waveforms built on it\, OTFS and AFDM. The session conclud
es with practical applications and research opportunities for students in
wireless communications.\n\nWhat you will learn:\n\n- What the Doppler eff
ect is and how it affects wireless signals\n\n- How 4G and 5G transmit dat
a\, and why high speed causes problems\n\n- What multipath (signal echoes)
is and how it affects communication\n\n- The main idea behind next-genera
tion 6G waveforms\n\n- Where these technologies are used\, and how student
s can get involved\n\nCo-sponsored by: Saudi Arabia Section\n\nSpeaker(s):
Dr. Sobia baig\n\nAgenda: \n1. Opening and speaker introduction\n\n2. The
Doppler effect and multipath: why signals struggle at high speed\n\n3. Ho
