IEEE EDS Summer School "Short course on Machine learning for Electron Devices (MLED'22)"
MLED’22 had
• Lectures from international and national experts
• Hands-on tutorial and demonstration sessions
• Lab visits and exposure to fabrication facilities
• Interaction session with industry experts
• Poster presentation and oral presentation sessions with awards
• Networking dinner
The 5-day residential course was divided as:
Day 1: Devices: This day was reserved for a discussion on the latest semiconductor devices, which present scope for the application of
Machine learning for improved simulation, design, and optimization
Day 2: Conventional modeling: Details of existing modeling techniques, compact models, and circuit simulations were discussed to point
out the possible areas where machine learning can bring improvement.
Day 3: Machine learning ideas: Various lectures and hands-on lab sessions familiarized the participants with using different machine
learning architectures
Day 4: Machine learning application: Lab sessions and demonstration sessions with the help of lectures, familiarized the participants
with using machine learning for device applications. Participants were hand-held through the process of creating a ML surrogate model for
a double gate device from scratch.
Day 5: Machine learning continued: Participants were asked to perform their own machine learning optimization on a device problem.
Their solutions/ideas were evaluated and feedback provided for improvement.
