XVIII Annual Biomedical Engineering Conference (CAIB 2025)
This event is organized in collaboration between the Student Council of the Biomedical Civil Engineering program and the EMBS UdeC Student Chapter. It has been held annually for the past eighteen years at the Universidad de Concepción (UdeC) and is distinguished by its student-centered nature: it is designed for students and coordinated entirely by a committee composed exclusively of students. The program includes technical lectures, invited speakers, sponsors, and a student research paper presentation competition.
Throughout the three-day event, the EMBS Student Chapter assumed a central role on the second day, contributing by organizing technical talks and hosting informational IEEE EMBS booths. These booths served both to recruit new members and to disseminate information about the chapter among attendees. The event brought together approximately 200 participants, of whom about 85% were students from our own program, while the remaining 15% consisted of secondary school students, students from other universities, and members of other IEEE EMBS chapters.
The second day concludes with a formal reception for all participants, during which the awards for the paper presentation competition, conducted during the first two days, are presented. As one of the event’s defining features, all paper presenters are students, not only from our university but also from various institutions across the country. Due to its long-standing tradition and strong reputation for organizational quality, the event is widely recognized and highly regarded at the national level.
