The focus of this year's movie night will be Human Performance

The event is geared towards high-school students, and especially athletes. All are welcome to attend.

Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Navy: Increasing Human Performance to Enhance Warfighting Capabilities

The Department of Navy's components are constantly faced
with operational challenges in extreme environmental.  To keep Sailors and
Marines ahead of their adversarial peers, advanced biomedical technologies
are required.  Here we will discuss some of these operational challenges and
how solutions are in development with the use of biomedical engineering and
science.

Biography:

LCDR Brian Andrews-Shigaki is a Program Officer at the Office of Naval
Research, managing a Science and Technology portfolio with investments
focused on biomedical technologies.  He has been in the Navy over twenty
years, beginning as an enlisted nuclear reactor operator on submarines to a
science and technology manager.  LCDR Andrews-Shigaki earned a Doctor of
Philosophy at the University of Hawaii at Manoa specializing on Pulse
Sequence Programming for Motion Correction in Magnetic Resonance
Spectroscopy.
