IEEE-INAE Workshop  on Electromagnetics(IIWE 2018), a three day workshop  held during 6-8, December 2018 in Trivandrum, Kerala was jointly organized by IEEE-APS Kerala Chapter and Madras Chapter ,Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology and Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) .The workshop encompassed 2 Keynote Talks, 9 Invited talks, 4 talks by Young Scientist Speakers and a total of 50 Research paper presentations. IIWE and RAICS(Recent Advances in Intelligent Computation Systems) were jointly inaugurated on 6th December by Dr.V.K.Dadhwal (Director,IIST), Prof.TapanK.Sarkar (Syracruse University, USA) , Dr.Sameer(Chair, IEEE-Kerala Section) and Dr.ChinmoySaha (Chair, IEEE-APS Kerala)([Figure 1]) by releasing the proceedings of the conferences. This was followed by Keynote address by Dr.V.K.Dadhwalon  "Applications of Spaceborne Microwave Remote Sensing" and Keynote by Prof.Tapan.K.Sarkar on "Generation of Non-Minimum phase response from Amplitude only data". Day 1 was concluded with 3 Contributory Sessions interspersed with Invited talks by Prof.Basudev Ghosh (IIST,Trivandrum) and Prof.UdayKhankoje(IIT-Madras)[Figure 2].

Day 2 began on a high note with consecutive insightful lectures from eminent speakers such as Prof.Magdalena Salazar Palma (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain),Prof.K.P.Ray (DIAT,Pune) and Prof.ChinmoySaha(IIST,Trivandrum) [Figure 3].This was followed by Contributory Session. The workshop not only brought together the eminent researchers and Academicians in the field of Electromagnetics but also provided an opportunity for Young Researchers to share their Research Experience. Day 2 featured four such Young Scientist Speakers, Dr. Debdeep Sarkar(RMC,Canada), Mr. Sandip Shankar Roy (NRSC(ISRO), Hyderabad), Dr.Hemant Kumar(VJITI,Mumbai),  and Dr. PratigyaMathur(VJITI,Mumbai) [Figure 4].Second day was concluded with another interactive Contributory Session. Day 3 began with talk by Dr.Tapan.K.Sarkar on "The use of Higher Order Basis in Computational Electromagnetics"  followed by enriching lectures by Dr.Chandrakanta Kumar(UR Rao Satellite Centre,Bangalore) ,Prof.Raghavan (NIT,Trichy) and Dr.Shiv Narayan (CSIR NAL ,Bangalore) .The  Valedictory function was preceded  by  Industry Talk delivered by the speakers from CST and Entuple Technologies. The three day event concluded with a valedictory where the best paper in each Contributory Session was awarded .Apart from the individual session awards, three papers were selected among all the contributory sessions and given the prestigious Abdul KalamAward ,Vikram Sarabhai Award and the SatishDhawan Award along with a cash prize. The IEEE-APS Student Branch of IIST was also inaugurated by the dignitaries Prof.Tapan. K. Sarkar and Prof.Magdalena Salazar Palma and it was received by Dr.Dadhwal (Director, IIST) and Dr.ChinmoySaha(Chair, IEEE-APS Kerala) [Figure 5.b].  The valedictory session  concluded with Vote of Thanks by Dr.Basudeb Ghosh (IIST, Trivandrum). The workshop was extremely successful in bringing together academicians and professionals in the Electromagnetics Field to share their ideas, Research work, and also to motivate the young researchers and students for their future research endeavours.
